Luxury brand comes from clothing company

Born in 1945, Céline Vipiana (1915–1997) and her husband, Richard, created one of the first luxury brands in the fashion industry, Céline. It started out as a tailor-made children's shoe business and its first store opened at 52 rue Malte in Paris.

"Revolution" in the fashion world

In 1948, when the business flourished, Céline and his wife opened 3 more boutiques specializing in producing shoes for girls and young women.

Not long after, the Celine Dion brand began to lauch handbags, perfumes and silk scarves that all became famous and spread intensely in the fashion village. With the prêt-à-porter product line, "a revolution" was created in the fashion world.

Celine fashion house is always heading towards minimalist yet sophisticated and high-quality fashion.

Seizing the "golden" time, in the 1970s the brand constantly expanded its market, introducing boutiques in Monte Carleo, Geneva, Hong Kong, Lausanne, Toronto and Beverly Hills.

In 1996, Céline merged into the LVMH Group and rapidly proliferated with unique accessory collections. At the same time, the brand has developed a classic yet modern "sportswear" style, where monochromatic, light and fresh tones are combined with high-quality fabrics.

When Phoebe Philo became the successor to the creative director position (in 2008), Céline became more popular than ever.

In 2020, the company officially announced Lisa - a member of Blackpink to become the global Celine brand ambassador, which resonated around the world.

From the launch of the first collections to the time when Celine was founded, the brand has proven its appeal to the fashionistas. During the development process, Celine has continuously changed, yet always maintains the core values: simple beauty, elegant style, but mixed with the dynamism and rebellion of street fashion. Therefore, Celine is also known as: "The luxury stress style brand with high applicability".

With the aim of focusing on the customers’ taste and quickly adapting to new trends of the fashion market, during the epidemic, when the giant brand Gucci, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, ... all had a decrease in brand value, showing the far-reaching influences on the garment industry, Celine has become a bright spot with 118% growth to $1.5 billion US dollar, becoming the fastest growing luxury brand in the world.

 

It was the arrival of the new creative director, Hedi Slimane, in 2018 that completely changed the game. He modified the brand logo, deleted all of Celine's official IG posts, symbolizing the birth of a new era despite criticism from loyal fans. Slimane's fierce efforts have successfully pushed Celine's career to the next level, especially in the field of ready-to-wear and leather products.

Considered as a relatively fledged brand, or the "late birth" brand but since its foundation until now, Celine has always tried her best to be able to join the race with other big brands in the fashion industry. For more than 70 years with more than 100 stores worldwide, Celine has always been a high-end, sleek and edgy French label.
