Prince Jackson is celebrating the King of Pop's lasting legacy!

 

Prince, 28, made a rare appearance at the opening night of MJ: The Musical at the Lyric Theatre in Sydney on Saturday, March 8. He appeared in good spirits as he posed solo on the red carpet in a navy blue pin-striped suit.

 

MJ: The Musical is based on the life of his father Michael Jackson, who died on June 25, 2009, and tells the story of his creative process and preparation for the 1992 Dangerous World Tour. The play premiered on Broadway at the Neil Simon Theatre on Dec. 6, 2021, and opened in London’s West End in 2024.

 

Prince’s attendance at the musical's launch in Sydney comes a year after he and his siblings Paris, 26 and Bigi, 23, attended the preview night of MJ: The Musical in London together in March 2024.

Michael welcomed son Prince and daughter Paris with his ex-wife Debbie Rowe. He was also father to Bigi, who changed his name from Blanket in 2015.

 

On June 1, 2024, Prince announced on Instagram a new event created in honor of Michael, called “This is Thriller.” It is set to be held at the Palace Theatre in Los Angeles every five years in celebration of the hit song by the late singer. 

 

“We are thrilled to announce our upcoming event this October (10/26), ‘This is Thriller,' taking place at the iconic Palace Theatre,” he wrote. “The future plans for Thriller Night will be taking place every 5 years. The next Thriller Night will be in 2027 to celebrate Thriller’s 45th Anniversary.”

Prince paid tribute to his dad on the 15th anniversary of his death with a photo on his Instagram Stories of the late singer performing at his Super Bowl XXVII halftime show in 1993, writing, “Miss you pops. The world felt better with you in it.”

The story of Michael Jackson’s life and career will be shared on the big screen in the upcoming biopic Michael, which is set for release on Oct.3, 2025, per The Hollywood Reporter

 

The feature film stars Michael’s nephew Jaafar Jacksonwho is the son of Michael's brother Jermaine Jackson, playing the titular role.

 

According to the film’s official synopsis, “Michael will bring audiences a riveting and honest portrayal of the brilliant yet complicated man who became the King of Pop.”
