Phan Thanh Mai, a third-year student at the Electric Power University, is not only a talented individual but also an inspiring figure whose journey is marked by growth and breakthrough. Her transformation from a shy and introverted young woman to a shining star at student events offers valuable lessons about determination, perseverance, and ambition. Her recent appointment as the Global Student Model Ambassador for Global Student Fashion Week is the most tangible proof of this.
From comfort zone to runner-up
In March, Thanh Mai unexpectedly won the runner-up title in the Miss & Mr EPU - Talented and Elegant Student contest at her university. This was not only a memorable milestone but also a significant turning point in her personal growth. For Thanh Mai, this title was more than just an award; it was a clear affirmation of her determination to overcome her limitations, step out of her comfort zone, and prove herself.
Before this, Mai's life was confined to studying and going home, with no extracurricular activities or experiences. She used to think that such things were not for her until she entered university, where she realized that "youth is too short to waste." This realization motivated Mai to boldly change, transforming from a timid girl into an active participant in school activities, even if it was just in a supporting role.
Unlimited dreams and family support
For Mai, every day is a valuable opportunity to grow, learn, and get closer to her goals. "No one charges for dreams" is a saying she always keeps in mind, reminding herself that as long as you dare to dream and act, anyone can achieve great things. From simple dreams like studying well or participating in extracurricular activities, Mai gradually set higher aspirations for herself: to be involved in important projects, to compete in professional beauty pageants, and to make her mark on larger stages in the future.
On this journey to achieve her dreams, her parents have been her biggest support and motivation. Whenever she felt discouraged or doubtful about herself, she always found support, encouragement, and faith from her family. In particular, her father's advice: "Attitude is more important than aptitude" has become a guiding principle for Mai in her daily interactions. She understands that a positive, sincere, and respectful attitude not only helps her create a good impression but also serves as a foundation for building a positive image, both in the academic environment and in life.
A new milestone at Global Student Fashion Week
The most proud moment this year is being chosen as the Global Student Model Ambassador for Global Student Fashion Week (GSFW). This is not just a title but also a mission. Mai promises to spread the positive message of the program: "Explore and overcome your limitations to reach the best in yourself." GSFW is an international fashion event that celebrates the talent and creativity of students worldwide. Becoming an ambassador gives Mai the opportunity to inspire young people: "We are at the most beautiful age, let's participate to create memorable memories of our youth. Perhaps these moments will help you find the path you want to pursue."
For Mai, youth is not only a time for study but also a time to explore and assert oneself. What she has achieved today is not only the result of hard work but also proof of daring to dream big and take action. "Don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. No matter where you start, as long as you are persistent and have the right attitude, you will shine," Mai advises.
