Unisex is a term, which combines "uni" and "sex", to describe non-sexism designs. Unisex fashion is the bold combination between manliness and womanliness, creating a unique and personal style. It is not only about using clothes of another gender but also the freedom in expressing personality through clothes. This attracts many people because they are not inhibited by things considered to suit their gender.

The unisex style was first known in the 60s of the 20th century in London, with well-known fashion designers at that time namely Haider Ackermann, Ann Demeulemeester, and Gareth Pugh.

At first, this fashion style is not recognized and preferred due to gender psychologies and stereotypes. After a long time, Unisex fashion is more and more popular because it contains distinction and attractiveness. Advanced mindset along with cultural innovations makes people realize that this fashion style is not related to or limited by gender.

In Europe, feminizing men’s fashion trends get responses from the celebrities like Harry Styles, Timothee Chalamet, Jaden Smith, Lil Nas X,...

In an interview, Harry Styles said he did not place much emphasis on gender-wearing orientation and “When visiting stores, I look at female clothes and think that they are nice”.
The barrier removal assists Harry Styles in mix-and-match freely and creatively, and above all, turns him into a unisex fashion symbol.

Mrs. Vicki Karaminas, Professor of Design Institute at Massey University, New Zealand once said to i-D magazine: “It is not just fashion, it is attitude and lifestyle.” Unisex fashion plays a role in forming an open-minded society, that accepts diversity and does not judge people by gender labels.
