A healthy diet is known as an eating habit that promotes or maintains general health and contains a variety of healthy foods. However, there is no exact definition of a healthy diet, but according to Lisa Jones, a registered dietitian in Philadelphia, an eating strategy that improves your health should encompass a particular range of nutrients. “Every person's needs are different, so what works for someone else may not work for you. The key is to find a diet that you can stick with over the long term".

Eating a balanced, healthy diet ensures that the body gets enough nutrients it needs to function properly and has a variety of positive effects on the body.

Improve moods and energy levels

You will feel better if you consume a healthy, balanced diet. Your energy levels will increase since your body will receive all the nutrition it requires to operate properly. To avoid elevated sugar levels and associated occurrences, stay away from sweet meals and beverages. In the long run, the best way to deal with physical and emotional stress is to eat light, healthy meals.

Maintain weight and keep fit

The key to lasting weight loss and maintaining a healthy weight is eating healthily and keeping track of your calorie intake and expenditure. In order to lose weight, you should consume more fruits, green vegetables, healthy fats (such as olive oil, fish oil, nuts, and seeds), lean protein (such as chicken breast), and whole grains. These meals are low in calories and high in fiber, which will keep you satisfied for longer.

Lower cancer risk

The presence of free radicals in the body is considered to be the main cause of a large number of dangerous diseases, especially cancer. A healthy diet that includes a variety of foods with antioxidants will help the body limit free radicals, thereby preventing the possibility of cancer. Besides, foods containing antioxidants can also reduce the risk of developing cancer cells by protecting them from new damage.

According to a study by The European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition (EPIC) in 2014, experts found that a diet rich in fruit, vegetables, and fiber can reduce the risk of gastrointestinal cancer, colorectal cancer, and liver cancer.
