CBS Sports reporter Amanda Balionis is using her huge social media following to help contribute to the Los Angeles wildfires relief drive.
Southern California is currently being hit by devastating wildfires, which have been fuelled by powerful Santa Ana winds. Over 10,000 structures have been destroyed, with more than 170,000 people having had to evacuate. Not one to sit put and not lend a hand, Balionis, famous for her coverage of the NFL, College Football and the PGA Tour for CBS, has mobilized her social media followers to help out with the huge relief drive.
The 39-year-old has a following of over 320,000 on Instagram, and has recently shared a number of posts on her story highlighting where people impacted by the horrifying blaze can go to receive help, supplies and shelter.
"If you or someone you know is displaced or homeless in Pasadena, please come to 202 S Raymond Ave Pasadena where volunteers have dropped off tons of free supplies," she wrote in one Instagram story sharing a photo a photo of the relief drive.
Balionis also shared a post from an account, 'secondsmarket' advertizing spare clothes for those who need them. She wrote: "Such an easy and important way to help as many quite literally only have the clothes they wore leaving their homes for the last time."
And as a huge animal lover, the CBS reporter also made sure to share a link to spread awareness for an animal shelter, Puppies and Golf.
Balionis wrote: "For those not in SoCal and unsure of how/where to help, we are working and talking with animal shelters in need to make sure we can mobilize and make an impact the way our incredible @puppiesandgolf community always does."
She added: "We already know we will be making a monetary donation to @pasadenahumane as they are doing incredibly hard and important work. We are also working with a couple other rescues in dire need that we can make an impact with.
"If you want to make a donation through us, just let us know you want it going to the LA Fires and we will make it every penny goes towards the efforts and organizations in need. We will be ready to roll out our full plan shortly."
