In this iteration, an homage to her husband David, whipped vanilla bean Chantilly is blended with tangerine heart, neroli, salted cocoa shell and tonka bean absolute. “When we started crafting Dave, I knew I wanted to make a vanilla that defied the ‘ordinary’ stereotypes – something with depth and duality, just like David,” Pfeiffer shared in a release, adding, “David is a storyteller. While some fragrance names leave little to the imagination, D.S. & Durga’s creations (Debaser, Radio Bombay, and the list goes on) inspire wonder. Its latest, Brown Flowers, has an eccentric collection of notes (Queen Anne’s lace! Roots!) and, along with its name, a one-of-a-kind vibe the brand’s self-taught perfumer David Moltz describes as a “heady 70s floral updated for modern tastes.”

Maison Francis Kurkdjian Kurky

There are master perfumers and then there’s Francis Kurkdjian, who has created some of the top-selling and most-coveted fragrances in the world, among them the iconic Baccarat Rouge 540, which is proudly displayed on every beauty editor’s vanity. For Kurky (the perfurmer's nickname), he pulled inspiration from precious moments during his childhood, such as when he received a box of sugared almonds the day of his baptism.
