Hai Phong to take in the first ever international equestrian model

Vinpearl Equestrian Cup 2025 marks a significant milestone as a professional equestrian tournament of international scale takes place in Hai Phong. Applying FEI standards in obstacle layout, scoring, and management ensures the event operates with clear procedures in line with those used in many countries.

The two main events, Show Jumping and Gymkhana, demonstrate the sport’s diversity. In Show Jumping, athletes navigate obstacles 70–80 cm high according to a technical course, where each adjustment of direction and speed affects the ranking. Gymkhana focuses on the ability to navigate slalom, zigzag, gait transitions, and circular patterns, requiring riders to maintain continuous concentration.

The tournament adds a performance-based and competitive sporting activity to Hai Phong, creating opportunities for visitors to experience a new sport at a tourist destination that is rapidly developing its service infrastructure.

A well-planned route for distinct age groups

The tournament is divided into three groups, reflecting their respective skill level and training objectives:

  • Children’s Group (Basic Gymkhana): trains steering skills, following patterns, and maintaining a steady rhythm when passing ground-level poles.

  • Amateur Group (Advanced Gymkhana): adds requirements such as slalom, zigzag, gait transitions, and speed control within tight circles.

  • Professional Group (70–80 cm Show Jumping): for athletes with formal training, demonstrating obstacle-jumping techniques according to international competition standards.

Total prizes worth hundreds of millions of dong are awarded across the categories, recognizing the specific achievements of the athletes. The tiered structure establishes a long-term development pathway while also helping the equestrian community in Vietnam access the sport in a sustainable and well-guided manner.

Experience activities associated with tourists and families

In addition to the competitive aspect, the event is expected to offer a series of audience-oriented experiences, aligning with the development of sports-linked tourism. The parade featuring various horse breeds from domestic and international farms, along with equestrian performances by experienced athletes, is seen as a major highlight.

The interactive area, including photo opportunities with the horses, visits to the fair, and outdoor spaces, allows families to watch the competitions comfortably. Combining competition with experiential activities gives visitors an additional type of attraction in Hai Phong, alongside the city’s familiar destinations.

Many experts believe that developing activities linked to sports can enhance the local appeal, especially when events are held on a stable, recurring basis.

Seamless cooperation between organizations and partnering systems
