Dolly Parton shared a loving message to husband Carl Dean just days after his death at the age of 82.
Dolly Parton will think of Carl Dean every step of the way.
Just days after the music icon said goodbye to her husband of 58 years, Dolly penned a moving message on her grief journey.
“This is a love note to family, friends, and fans,” the Mar. 6 post began. “Thank you for all the messages, cards and flowers that you’ve sent to pay your respects for the loss of my beloved husband Carl.”
And while she acknowledged she couldn’t respond to all the well wishes, she noted the support “has meant the world” to her.
“He is in God’s arms now and I am okay with that,” the 79-year-old continued, before sending a personal message to Carl, which read, “I will always love you.”
Dolly’s heartbreaking message of love comes three days after Carl’s passing at the age of 82. While she and the family didn’t share details about his death, they noted Carl will be laid to rest in a private ceremony.
At the time, Dolly shared a brief statement about their enduring partnership.
“Carl and I spent many wonderful ears together,” the country music star wrote on X March 3. “Words can’t do justice to the love we shared for over 60 years.”
She concluded with thanks for the “prayers and sympathy.”
While Dolly and Carl didn’t often step out together in public—Carl famously hated attending a 1967 event with Dolly so much that he asked her to spare him from all future public outings—their love story was one for the books.
As Dolly herself noted, while Carl may not have enjoyed a life in the spotlight, his support behind closed doors was invaluable.
"It is important to have someone there in your corner and you know they'll love you for just who you are," she told E! News in May. "There's a great comfort in knowing that someone loves you exactly for who you are—because he fell in love with me before I became a star."
She continued, “We just enjoy each other. One of the things that we like to do—not necessarily a date night, we have a lot of date days—we have our little RV and we like to travel around. Going down and get some food, or I'll make a picnic and we go down to the river."
