A concert amidst the rain and sea of lightsticks
On the evening of 1/11, at the Vietnam Exhibition Center (Dong Hoi, Dong Anh, Hanoi), the live concert “30 years of Dan Truong – Marks of youth” took place amid the eager anticipation of a large audience. The event was simultaneously broadcast live at 28 cinema clusters from Tuyen Quang, Vinh, Da Nang, Nha Trang to Tay Ninh, Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho, and Ca Mau, creating a widely shared musical experience.

From early evening, the stage area was livelier than usual. Many fans arrived early to visit the exhibition showcasing milestones from the 30-year singing career of the 7X singer. Despite light rain, thousands lingered, waiting for the show to begin.

When the music started, Dan Truong appeared from above, opening with the medley Buoc Chan Le Loi. The aerial entrance combined with stage lighting created a dramatic highlight. Immediately after, he and the dance troupe continued to drive the stage energy with the performance Co Ai Ep Ta Yeu Ho Dau, marking the meticulous planning of the concert’s structure. According to the stage commentary, each act was designed as a continuous story, connecting the entire journey of his growth and the people who have accompanied him over three decades.
Confessing moments and tribute for years-long partners
Amid the brightly lit stage, Dan Truong greeted and thanked representatives of organizations, officials, and fans who came from many provinces. He presented flowers to longtime collaborators such as Minh Vy, Le Quang, Quoc Cuong, Ly Huynh Long, and Dong Thien Duc. Each bouquet was a token of gratitude for those who contributed to his career milestones.

In a heartfelt moment, Dan Truong shared: “I cherish every moment on this stage. The past few days it rained continuously, heavily. At times, rain and tears mixed together. I once thought I would quietly do my work, never having the chance to hold a commemorative concert. Many ups and downs made me hesitate. But over the past year, I have achieved many successes and realized that my appearances are still loved and supported by the audience. That is a great motivation to lift me up and commit to this program.”

A notable moment occurred when NSND Xuan Bac – Director of the Performing Arts Department – came on stage to congratulate him. He shared his long-standing admiration for Dan Truong’s music and expressed joy at being part of the evening’s atmosphere. The U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam, Marc E. Knapper, was also present from the start and sent his congratulations, providing significant encouragement to Dan Truong during this commemorative event.
Numerous collaborations creating a colorful stage
One of the most anticipated parts was the appearance of his son Mathis Thien Tu in “Rise for you – Dong mau lac hong”. The boy returned to Vietnam early to prepare with his father, and their father-son duet created a deeply emotional image. The moment the two rode horses onto the wide stage made the atmosphere even more lively. According to Dan Truong, Thien Tu is a source of motivation that helps him maintain a persistent spirit in his career.
In the following set of performances, Dan Truong sang familiar hits such as “Ngoi sao bay”, “Bien nguoi nhan gian”, “Anh phai lam sao”, “Thanh xuan cua toi”, and “Dung yeu ky uc”. Each song is a piece of memory for the generation of fans who grew up with his music. Performing these signature tracks, Dan Truong showed pride in the affection the public has for him.

Cam Ly appeared in Con mua mua dong, a new composition by musician Minh Vy. This performance evoked nostalgia as the two artists were once considered a “golden duo” of Vietnamese music. During the interaction, Cam Ly expressed gratitude for the audience’s support throughout 30 years of collaboration.

Hoa Minzy joined in “Mong tinh si” and revealed that Dan Truong was her childhood idol. Her student, Trung Quang, shared that the 7X singer lost more than 5kg during preparations, reflecting the level of investment for the concert. Quoc Thien recounted his childhood story of sending letters to Dan Truong, considering it a great motivation for pursuing music. Rhyder sang in “Tinh hoa xu Bac” and expressed joy at reuniting with his senior after many years. Rapper Den performed Hai trieu nam and also collaborated with Dan Truong in “Bai nay chill phet” and “Loi nho”. The duet of two contrasting styles received strong applause from the audience.
